It might come as a surprise to some of the OC generation, but there’s more to Mexico than Spring Break and ‘The Real Cancun’.

Looking beyond the well-earned accolades of Amores Perros and Y tu Mama Tambien, the first annual Hola Mexico Film Festival will cover Mexcian film spanning the 1950s until today. Movies such as Solo Dios Sabe (Only God Knows) directed by Carlos Bolado and Duck Season, which was a Cannes contender when released in 2004, prove that Mexican cinema is hotter than fresh tamale.
