Pool rage: an overpowering urge to unleash violence upon the ‘swimmer' in front of you in a crowded lane. The muscly triathletes who dramatically overtake you on the turn, only to slow to a snail's pace within 15 metres. The ‘cross trainers' who insist on walking the first half of each lap. Or anyone who doesn't actually put their head in the water to swim. PHRGRRROAHHHHHHH!!!!!
Luckily the good people at Northcote YMCA have a solution - a newly renovated 10-lane, 50-metre outdoor pool, in addition to the 25-metre indoor pool, a spa and three separate kiddie pools. Suffice to say, it's not very busy.
Admittedly, you won't have an audience of hipsters gazing down upon you from the Concrete StepsTM, their polished disdain driving you to new heights of physical achievement. But there's a large soon-to-be grassy slope surrounding the pool. And with the new outdoor lighting, you can swim until 9.30pm every weeknight. Anyone say Indian summer??
Ambience: Outdoor
Difficulty: Depends how hard you push it
