Do you ever get the urge to go to a dark and spooky part of town where you can visit a Lynchian clubhouse and fire off a few rounds with a mystery man named Laszlo?
The Melbourne International Shooting range is a parallel world where everyone's invited, and there is nothing like the cold hard thrill of lining up the sight range on a Smith & Wesson Colt 45.
A set of pro instructors take participants on a 2.5-hour course through an indoor/outdoor range that incorporates a variety of revolvers and, in my group's case, a flurry of killer heels. Finally a sport that caters to all types; the alpha and the floundering wimp can both quit their frustrations cold turkey.
The clubhouse is a cross between an alpine hunting lodge and an RSL bistro, with dark wood panelling, low lights and memorabilia dating back to the club's inception in 1955. When your last shell hits the floor you can kick back here and knock the top off a cold frosty one at canteen prices. You may not be on the honour board yet but you'll feel like a true legend.
Ambience: Outdoor
