There's an urban legend that Wolverine-esque former-Misfit-come-band-leader Glen Danzig keeps up his muscular physique by working out in a private backyard gym. The short-in-stature punk/metal icon allegedly performs this ritual to the soundtrack of his own records. Personally, I hope he sticks to the first four and skips Black Acid Devil.

Laugh - then look shamefully at your own bulges and remember what it was like to have a lightning fast metabolism. But who wants to frequent a neon-lit sweat factory blasting top-forty-FM and be surrounded by the very worst of the upper-middle class lycra brigade?

Quietly providing the antidote is Immortal Fitness. Decidedly sans-neon, this private gym is a paradise worthy of Mr Danzig himself. Your only in is through one of a select group of personal trainers.

We recommend Sharryn Groves, who has been tailoring her services to accommodate many musical identities (helping them with blast beats) and bar staff (cocktail twirling). Sessions can be solo or in small groups and, you never know, you might bump into your punk/metal hero while doing dead-lifts.
