In places like South Central Los Angeles, Saturday nights are for listening to N.W.A and mulling over two possible career choices: Bloods or Crips. It took Tommy the Clown and a jar of face paint to change this trend, uniting the people by knocking out some interpretive dance moves to the gangsta rap his older brothers were playing. This resulted in the dance phenomenon known as krumping.
The day has finally come when Melbourne can stand proud, in Corroboree formation, and enter the battle zone that will result in an iconic performance of all free-form physicality, from Butoh to Booty.
The First Annual Pan-Brunswick Car Wash Interpretive Dance Championships (FAPBCWIDC) will give your pop-locking equilibrium an audience that cares. There'll be a slo-mo krump battle, Kate Bush derby endurance challenge, and centrefold calendar photoshoot to capture the night's slaughter of jazz, classical and tap. So, stop, collaborate and glisten because the FAPBCWIDC is unleashing the buck in Brunswick (and you can't just put it back).
