The only thing more violent than The Boondocks, is the sport of amateur boxing. In Collingwood, suitably opposite a police station, is my local fight gym. To get in, you'll have to go down the side, which will seem a prime spot to get stabbed. But you'll find it, just listen for the screams.
If you speak to the trainer, Kel, he'll say they don't get newcomers very often. I suspect because it's terrifying. The fighters of both sexes look capable of punching themselves out of a prison cell. The gym is as rustic as they get. No frills. And once you're over the initial intimidation factor, you'll realise how incredibly fit boxing makes you.
Now settle down, you don't need to fight anyone if you don't want to. You're more than fine to punch the speed bag in the corner, alone. Just leave five bucks in the jar by the door, which goes to supporting the community, and do your best. Soon enough, someone will ask politely to punch you in the face. Tool up gangster.
