After fretting that we hadn't brought enough CDs to keep us from getting bored, it was a pleasant surprise to find that Black Spur Drive - the breathtaking stretch of road near the Yarra Valley - is only an hour of Gold 104 hits away.
It's a Honda commercial designed by God - all turns and tall trees, canopied by prehistoric-style ferns with streams of sunshine peeking through. (Said my knowledgeable companion, "these trees are like a thousand years old.") Like California's Big Sur, the drive is just like driving in a movie set, so make a cinematic playlist, rent a car and free your lungs from a winter's worth of bus exhaust.
