Oh, Rooftop Market. You were so good to us last year; your shopping was fine and your burger sauce was plentiful. I remember spying one stallholder suffering a mild case of sunstroke. She was all determined-like begging to keep selling her goods. "I'm fine," she said before taking a gulp of her Mojito. Even blistering calves wont get you off that roof easily. "The people are too good looking!" she said, "The burgers are too juicy!" It got worse. The stallholder clutched at her mustardy meat pattie, looked up at the sunny skies and wailed: "Don'ts takes aways my burger!"
So: wear sunscreen, drink a little extra soda with your scotch and enjoy the fruits of some damn fine Melbourne designers each Friday until Christmas. From 11am-4pm, expect wares by the likes of All of the Above, Limedrop, Betsy Blonde, Who Am Eye, Ambiguous Horse, Mont Laroc, Lady, Iggy and Lou Lou, Rest in Peace, WON Magazine, Pigeon Combine, Hatsumi's Laundry, Kollate, Bald Horse, Bonfire Folk, Emma Grace and Tai Snaith. And remember, Burger Fever is real.
