Along with jeans and t-shirts, the humble sneaker is now obligatory daily wear for most humans aged between 2 and 80, particularly if they're planning on talking to anyone within that age group. The trick is to pick the right combination of the above elements, and that's where The Lab comes in.

What you want is the right amount of collectableness and rarity, coupled with a decent serving of who cares and plenty of that hard to define authenticity. Ben and his gaggle of casually attired Lab assistants have lovingly assembled a roster of top-shelf brands such as Vans, Levis, Nike, Huffer, Stussy, Colab, Alife and a range of limited edition Lab tees designed by local illuminati such as Ed Davis of HM Press. And they're clever about it; they order the really good stuff out of each range, leaving out the stuff that only works if you're a skinny Danish model.

After making your selection, you can emerge confidently into the throng of Brunswick Street, comfortable with your new, scientifically-proven outfit, as well as the high likelihood of being asked directions to Bimbo's by some drunk guys with turned up collars.
