We're running away and you won't recongise us at this Collingwood warehouse. We could be hiding behind the hoods of Pigeons Combine's darkly intellectual streetwear. We might be pretending to be a jewellery display with Limedrop's trinkets dangling from our limbs. And we've stocked up on adhesive moustaches so we're not recognised from behind the bar.
Penthouse Mouse is a pop-up shop as part of the L'Oreal Fashion Festival Cultural Program. And while there will be champagne and parades in the spirit of the festival, it strays from the glitz and focuses on Melbourne's independent art and fashion in the way of shopping, exhibitions and parties. It is a space for independent fashion labels including Hua, Montlaroc and Kuwaii. It is also an artists' space for the likes of Robbie Rowlands, Studio Organic, Joel Zika and BUS Gallery's Skin 'n Threads group show.
You may wonder how one venue can stuff so much cultural endeavour under one roof. The answer is this: this warehouse is fricken massive. And Penthouse Mouse is a project conceived by Moth Design who have imaginations just as big. Run away with us to forget life outside Collingwood for two-and-a-bit weeks. We've got a spare moustache for you.
