1) Papillon is the French word for butterfly. 2) It is also the title of the memoir of 1930s felon and fugitive Henri Charriere. 3) Papillon is also the name of a new store tucked up above Block Place - inspired by both of the above. Roll back the old metal weighted door to reveal an entire new wardrobe. The former gallery now houses both the Papillon founders's own labels - Rest in Peace and Elias Reign. Plus these kids have managed further cross-pollination to create a house label that will be in full bloom and in store in early 2009.
Papillon is intimate enough to feel like your own personal walk-in closet in the heart of the city, perfect for sudden 10-degree weather shifts. Little bit chilly - try a double breasted denim jacket on for size. On the sweaty side - slip on one of the fine Banksy-inspired tees. Best of all the labels are local. They cater to both guys and girls and specialise in one-off pieces, because no-one's wardrobe should double up.
