Description:
Inanimate objects aren't really celebrated per se for stealing the show in Hollywood. That was until Marc Jacobs designed monogrammed animal-themed travel cases for The Darjeeling Limited, which distracted us from the awkward Owen Wilson-is-in-rehab undercurrent. Since that moment, we have been besotted by the old-fashioned sophistication of travel trunks.
So it seems fitting that James Cameron (Melbourne's champion of old-fashioned, well-made modernism in clothes for those who don't want to give up their vintage motorbike repayments for a pair of pants) would choose a ‘Trunk Sale' to preview his SS 08/09 menswear collection, 'The Getaway'.
The key word is ‘preview' though, because after tonight's pre-ordering, discounting and queue jumping, the range won't be available until September. You should still pop in between now and then though, because they've just started stocking possibly the world's best (and most mysterious) mens shoes, Common Projects, alongside the now-loved Rite-in-the-Rain notebooks and Fantastic Man magazine.
Trunk Sale: not a car boot sale, but the chance to get your freezing hands on some good value warm-weather pieces and dream of someone to carry your luggage.
