Most bike services favour cyclists in lycra, zipping about the countryside on their days off. But the average kid cycling daily to their place of work and play has needs, too. The brain behind Commuter Cycles was once a frustrated cyclist, with one hand on the handlebars and the other fisting the air at the lack of workshops for everyday bikers. That's why he set up his own hospital for the squeaky wheels of Melbourne.
Say your gears need tightening, your chain needs replacing or the streamers on your handlebars need ruffling - drop your wheels off at Commuter Cycles and in one or a few days your bike will be as slick as new. You won't be charged an organ, either.
There's one other service that separates Commuter Cycles from other bike repair shops: the Courtesy Bike. For your commuting convenience, there is a fleet of deliciously green, single-gear bikes upon which you can hoon around while your bike is being repaired. Whatever species your bike - Pennyfarthing, Fixie or Moulton - Commuter Cycles welcomes it: big, small, worn, weathered.
