Q: Why did Alphaville cross the road?
A: To make room the few dozen Jean-Luc Godard heads.
Particular television programs have forecasted the development of cryonics to preserve celebrity heads in jars. But the guys at Alphaville have faced present underdevelopment of neuropreservation and had to resort to pretending, with paper cut-outs of their beloved French director/mascot. They have rolled down the stairs and skipped across Brunswick Street to set up their new store with heads and their famous wears on display.
The bright and breezy store is lined with a striking combination of stone blocks and sheets of glass. Don’t allow yourself to be so distracted by the clothing, patent-leather jazz ballet shoes and wonderfully peculiar jewellery by Hamish Munro too much. You’ll miss the giant Laura Palmer “Dead. Wraaapped in plastic” on the back wall.
Laura was said to be "full of secrets"; if only we had her talking head in liquid, she could spill some of them…
