This book is so good. It's the true story of Reena Virk, a 14-year-old girl from British Columbia who was beaten and drowned under a bridge by her schoolmates in 1997. Brilliantly written and fastidiously researched, Under The Bridge will leave you wondering why you haven't killed yourself yet because the world is so horrible.
I finished the book and then put my head in the oven. Luckily I was at Ikea and those ovens don't really work. The toilets are just for show too, in case you were wondering. It's the second book by novelist Rebecca Godfrey (her first being The Torn Skirt) and it's kind of like her In Cold Blood.
Christ, that was a heavy read. When I finished it I had to watch Ernest Goes to Camp, Ernest Rides Again, Slam Dunk Earnest and Earnest Saves Christmas just to keep myself from even thinking about dragging a razor across my wrist! Don't get me wrong, I still wanted to die, but after watching that much Earnest there was no way I was going without taking him with me. You're a fuck'n dead man Earnest P. Worrell.
