Why does the word eclectic get bandied around so much? Does everything that’s even slightly diverse have to be considered eclectic? In light of this we can’t use that word to describe Tropical Hot Dog Night. But then THDN is more than just one word, it’s actually quite a few words strung together which makes a welcome change from your average music blog.

Between 1992 and 1997 R.L Stine made publishing history. His horror novels for children were listed as the fifteenth most challenged books of 1990-1999. But just like the blob who ate everyone, was he sorry about freaking out kids everywhere? Hell no. And thank the thing under the sink for that.

Pay attention Cory: this is what the drugs will do to you. They did steal the computers though, which means one of two things: Either you have been receiving an inferior junkie version of the Post Post newsletter ever since.

Did you know that John Safran got his first job in advertising by cleaning the front windows of an ad agency every day for a week? (They didn't ask him to - he just turned up out the front with a squeegee, kind of like those guys at traffic lights, but better dressed). Fortunately, there's no need for people to debase themselves in this fashion anymore (sorry John) to get noticed.
The Rant
Sometimes you've just gotta get stuff off your chest. Equally (and except in the case of certain mammary reduction procedures), it can be good to witness others getting stuff off their chests. So in the spirit of purging, why not add The Rant to your reading list? Founded as a ‘side project' by Paul Meats of Was Not Me and ‘Silent G' from Idle 55, this publication is a beautifully illustrated ode to complaint.

Not everything makes sense at the start and it's important to test the waters, analyse what you do and re-shape it if necessary. Take NowNow, for instance (also published by Right Angle Publishing), a blog that began about a year ago using software more obsolete than your G3 laptop. It's now back up, though, looking great with logo design by Tristan Ceddia from Never Now and The Serps and site design from Hammer & Tong.
