"Here Ye! Here Ye! Thingo who works at the cafe on Tuesdays has put on five kilos! Dude says the ticket machine wasn't working at East Richmond Station. Gets fined anyway! Barista pretends to make a skinny decaf latte but uses full fat milk then laughs at lady behind her back!"
This is the real news of our city. The grassroots material that gets lost on the cutting room floor when Sandra and Tom Petrowski and that boofhead guy from Toyota Sports Tonight are planning the channel Ten late edition. In a homage to olden-day news delivery, UK group Lone Twin and local theatre heroes The Suitcase Royale are teaming up to create Newsboys - a series of bulletins that they will shout from street corners.
Apparently, they will 'spend time in the locations, attempting to meet and speak with the local inhabitants and passersby, gathering an eclectic sense of local events'. Which sounds like what I do every Friday night at Hells Kitchen, but with a lower blood alcohol level. Rad! Keep an eye out for the newsboys between October 10 and 13 and seize this opportunity to spread fiction and gossip beyond your Facebook page to the deserving citizens of Melbourne's CBD.
