Paul Meates, local artist and purveyor of fine book-wares, has put together a collection of very short stories. Fostering a culture of interdisciplinary harmony, Meates invited writers respond to pictures in pieces of 1000 words.
‘Wait, wait, wait - whaddaya mean "very short"?' ‘All the stories in A Picture's Worth are 1000 words in length.' ‘Hmmm... I don't know. I don't like my fiction under 2500 words.' ‘Well, that's very prescriptive of you.' ‘It's just how I roll, all right?' ‘Really? Well, then, I feel sorry for you.' ‘You do?' ‘Yeah.' ‘Why? I know I have this terrible rosacea, but other than that...?' ‘Well, you'll never know the beauty of such lines as J. A. Taylor's "And her chin ached double triple quadruple creases because all the time when she wasn't singing or dancing she was coolly still, tilting the weight of her misshapen head downward to the subtle clicking that knitting makes when it is perfectly done".' ‘Oh... right.' ‘Touché?' ‘Touché.'
A juicy addition to the local literary landscape, A Picture's Worth brings superior vignettes to your coffee table in aesthetically pleasing form. Go Paul!
