Plenty of artists rescue stuff from the garbage. In fact, they might as well start listing themselves in the Yellow Pages next to Mini Skips. 'We drag your crap away and exhibit it at ACCA! Come see it again! Free champagne and floor talks.'

Anyway, the amazing Matt Thomson (of Mattt Bags) takes this worthy endeavour one step further by incorporating used goods into his products. And selling them back to the same people who threw them away! Genius. Using the canvas banners from last year's Melbourne International Arts Festival, Matt has made a limited range of bags in two of his iconic designs: the practical 'A4' and the new campus-hottie-style 'zipper shoulderbag'.

These are extremely limited edition (because there weren't too many banners produced last year) so snap one up fast. Then, next time you're in New York, Merce Cunningham will be wheeling by and he'll recognise you from last year's festival and invite you back to the Dance Company headquarters where you'll chew the fat about chance operations and cravats until it's time to go hang out with Sigur Ros.
