Photography has a cruel habit of capturing the cruellest of moments and inopportune poses. The muffin top hanging over the hipster jeans, the angle where your nose looks really big or, as in one of Parr's works, the moment you're stuffing a donut into your gob.
Established UK artist Martin Parr presents a catalogue of photographs uniformly titled Common Sense that catalogue grotesque images of everyday life. A rear view of a geriatric in Speedos, an 'American coffee' piled high with cream from a can, a poodle died pink and a pair of feet committing the fatal fashion sin of socks-and-sandals. Exploitative or snobby, humorous or truthful, these faux-pas captured by Parr are sure to make you cringe.
