With a name like Lover, it is not enough merely to be loved - as this Australian label surely is - you must, like the great seducers of history, love stuff too. Thus, Lover the label is launching a new series of events called ‘Lover Loves...' to salute artists they find inspiring and well, lovable.
In an ironic twist, the debut Lover Loves event next Wednesday at Don't Come features New York author Lesley Arfin. Who, as readers of her book will discover, has not always been particularly loveable. She has, however, now recovered from her junk addiction and resolved many of the violent rivalries and festering emotional wounds left over from her junior high years.
Arfin's book Dear Diary (remember, we told you to read it way back here) "offers a stark continuous and cathartic commentary on the author's life, noting every embarrassing detail and effusively documenting every mistake without a trace of guilt or remorse". Awesome.
It's published by Vice with an intro from Chloe Sevigny. Go to Lover Loves next Wednesday to hear it from the author's mouth and see Vice's Briony Wright put her karaoke mic skills to good use as the MC.
