In the golden age of infomercials, Demtel would advertise a set of steak knives by cutting through a shoe. Tim Shaw also went nuts on tomatoes and a frozen box of broccoli. It really was an amazing offer. Now however, as Australian infomercials are dying a slow death due to the internet, it stands that vegetarian shoes should rise to avenge (and overthrow) their leather cousins.
Keep shoes are manufactured minus leathers, hides and stinky glues. The soles are stitched using the natural fibres of cotton and canvas, and next year's drawing board also incorporates blends of bamboo, cotton and corduroy.
The label started out just for ladies fed up with the misappropriation of the colour pink. But they've just launched a dude's line and extended a cruelty-free arm to apparel, totes and shades (for US$5!) Now that's an amazing offer.
