Finding a good karaoke joint can mean the difference between you blowing your entire weekend’s drinking allowance over three, frequently interrupted half-hour-blocks on bad cocktails while embarrassing yourself in front colleagues and friends as you murder the Mandarin version of ‘Wind Beneath My Wings’ and drinking well-priced imported beer while you select from a song list that allows you to demonstrate your solid grasp of early ‘90s grunge or mid ‘80s hip hop.
The first time I visited K Box (yes, literally, a box devoted to karaoke) I knew I was onto something special. They have corridors of what appears to be about 40 rooms of different sizes (so you can happily accommodate a party of anywhere from 3 to 30) that exist to ensure you and your friends are comfortable and have just the right amount of space to bust out some serious moves. The song list is extensive, they provide little hygienic covers for your mics, it’s cheap and they leave you alone for the duration of your drunken stay. It’s the best, however, thanks to word of mouth and reviews like this one, it’s advisable that you book a room beforehand.
