So that you know Gaff = 'woof' in Russian but the Shout Out Louds are from Sweden. Regardless of this bilingual confusion Howl Howl Gaff Gaff is an amazingly coherent and developed debut album from this indy pop five piece from Stockholm. Sounding a little like The Concretes or Sonic Youth making sentimental love to a Cure record you may wonder if you've just dusted off a secret compilation.

Rich arrangements add depth to simple, straightforward indie-pop songs and with the Christmas decorations already adorning the city we're placing our bets that this will be one of the albums of the year. Howl Howl Gaff Gaff, has single-worthy tracks littered throughout, from the opening 'The Comeback' to 'Please Please Please' and the energetic 'Shut Your Eyes', the songs seem to be urging summer to hurry up, reminding us of new romances and of lazy Sundays poolside.
