Quentin Tarantino hosted private screenings of double features complete with all the trimmings traditional Grindhouse promised; kung fu, horror, Giallo, sexploitation and spaghetti Westerns as far as genres go. Then, unforgettable car chases and trailers before and in between the films. Robert Rodriguez attended one of Tarantino's screenings in 2003 and mentioned he always wanted to make a double feature. Hence, the 2007 anthology film came to life including Planet Terror and Death Proof. Unfairly, for Australian audiences, the films were released separately due to stupid distribution rules. Anyway, thank your burning rubber tyres for The Astor who is screening Grindhouse just as the original double feature was intended.
