Ed Rec Volume 3, Busy P interview

What:
Ed Rec Volume 3

On:
Ed Banger Records

When:
Out this week

The third compilation from Parisian purveyors of ‘lectro dance mash and gravy, Ed Banger Records, is out now, proving that Busy P and his gang can still throw thrash metal, rap, and pop through the electro blender and deliver it loud and with lots of treble. This is the way the best days of our lives are lived.

This volume features SebastiAn, Mr Oizo, Busy P and Murs, Feadz, Uffie, DSL, Mr Flash, Krazy Baldhead and So Me.

We were really excited to do an interview with Busy P on the eve of this release. (No, we really did! It's our first ever ThreeThousand interview. However, it is up to you to judge whether Penny should have been put in charge of it...)

What did you do in Melbourne when you came here?

One of my favourite clubs is Third Class!

Did you have the rave juice in the plastic bag?

Yes of course I had the rave juice.

On the track from Homework, 'WDPK 83.7 fm', Is that radio voice you?

It's the voice of Thomas of Daft Punk.

I think lots of people think it's you.

Oh yeah?? No, no it's not. Maybe, you know, if it was me I could get some royalties..

Is everyone in Paris still doing this fluoro thing?

Of course of course, we have this crew called Andrea Crews, have you heard of that? They're fluoro kids. I hope it will not die. Myself I was a fluoro kid. But now you grow up, you know. What will be funny is, how are they gonna change? You know, going from all fluoro colours to black slim jeans. It's happened to me. It will happen to other people.

What do you think of Ed Rec Volume 3?

I like Uffie's track because I think it's a bit different from what she was doing recently. And you know it's more minimal and I like it. What else? It's hard for me to choose, you ask me to choose between my son and my daughter. So it's like... I'm really happy with the whole compilation, it's the best one so far.

Do you ever feel like you're living in the giant, robotic shadow of Daft Punk?

I'm trying to escape it a little bit. I'm proud of it, I'm not ashamed of my association with them. The idea is to try to do something by myself, and we've managed to do it with the Ed Banger label you know.

One day maybe you'll out-sell Daft Punk...

Um yeah... Right now we're working on the live album for Justice. We've been redubbing all the Justice shows. Stay tuned, we're working on a CD. We're planning to put it out in October or November.

DVNO was so rad. I wish someone would do it for Australian logos. We had an ad in Australia that's for Crunchie bars.

Oh yes I have heard of this!

There's all these animated t-shirts. This was the precursor to Justice's D.A.N.C.E. t-shirt video. Are they aware of this?

No, no but I've been told.

This is our first ever interview in ThreeThousand. I hope it is good.

I'm gonna bookmark it.

Bye Busy P!

Bye Penny.
