Description:
When people are protesting your documentary, you must be doing something right. Beyond Our Ken is a self-funded, low-budget film that turns the microscope onto the controversial KENJA group and their promises of unleashing ‘human potential'. (Feel free to replace ‘group' with ‘cult' and ‘human potential' with ‘charges of sexual abuse'.) This investigation required the director to join the group for six months for inside information; something our national newspapers should remember as their supposed investigative journalism finds new lows each year. Members of the KENJA group made a special trip around the world to disrupt the film's premiere in Toronto. Least you can do is show up in Melbourne. - MP
