The lovable crew behind the boutique wine store Black Hearts & Sparrows Wine Purveyors on Punt Road, Windsor, have been doing the wine game proud for years, sating the most demanding of palates.

Now, at the vanguard of Lygon Street’s increasingly gentrified lower stretch, they’re not only upgrading a spanking new shop, they’ve also revamped its neighbouring, former goth-rock den into the top notch bar, Atticus Finch.

Aptly monikered – being named after the fatherly hero in To Kill A Mockingbird – its aesthetic is bookish, kind of courtroom-like. (But there’s no jury, except your peers and the following morning people!)

In fact, it’s so in keeping with said literary classic’s subtle elegance, and so replete with hot ticket wine labels, summer’s favourite new elixir (glorious cider), cold beer and even cooler tunes, it’s sure to rate as highly among Melbourne’s epicural elite as the novel does the Pulitzer Prize list.
