Hailing from the good state of Tasmania, Alexi Freeman has made a name for himself as the man who "lured fashion into bed with art." Okay, so we will spare you the gory details, or who bought whom a drink.
With an emphasis on the avant-garde, Freeman has made the smooth transition from printmaking to a fashion design aesthetic, which heralds a return to careful craftsmanship. Inspired by the costumes of Gustav Klimt, Freeman's fabrics are layered to create soft and voluminous silhouettes, which are then turned on their head with deconstructed liquid lines.
The textiles here take the stage, with fine-gauge wools paired with herringbone silks. For women who are "enamoured by the past, but lust after the future", Freeman's collection will turn you into a New Wave Audrey Hepburn, who isn't afraid to team mesh with knickerbockers.
