La Mama Theatre, that precariously poised bastion of the arts opposite Brunetti's fashion vortex, has until September 2 to raise $1.7 million to buy the Faraday Street building where they have been based for more than forty years. They are hoping for $300,000 from the Federal Government. Shut up, you never know. ("Oh herro, could we have $300,000 pls? No, we are not the Institute of Sport. No, we are not defending Australia from the foreigners. Okay then, bai.") They could do with everyone's help right now. Anyway, Dancehouse are putting on a fundraiser this Friday. It features all kinds of friendly fun stuff that's bound to make about $50 (fusball, Angus Cerini, a raffle). Round up your drug debtors, get them to drop a few grand at the door, and show them, while you're at it, that there can be nights pleasantly spent away from the crack pipe. - PM
