Description:
Twenty years ago - perhaps caught up in the heady whirlwind of Expo '88 and the Iran-Iraq ceasefire - David Vodicka founded Rubber Records. Could he have known, as he ate a Chiko Roll in his Jenny Kee windcheater, that it would grow into one of Australia's finest independent labels, ultimately outlasting Summershine, Dogmeat, and Au Go Go? Perhaps not, but he can look back on it all tomorrow as his ears are pounded by the best acts that Rubber has released (would you even say, perchance, the best Rubber bands? Bahahhaaa). Expect Even, Cordrazine, Hot Little Hands, Oscarlima (reuniting for the show), DJ Peril and more. Music born of a simpler time, when George Bush Senior was still contesting the primaries and Tania Lacey had a job at Countdown Revolution. - PM
