Description:
Apart from the usual scariness of a Gertrudes launch (people storming the bar for $2 wines, Alexie Glass's killer heels) this Friday promises... actual ghosts! New Zealand artist Dane Mitchell launches Invocations in the main gallery. It's a sculpture and sound installation for which he worked "with a witch to open a portal to the spirit world... initiating a haunting. The haunted area will be cordoned off and will only be cast for the duration of the exhibition." In the front gallery, Michael Zavros and Nell present There Goes a Narwhal - paintings and sculptures inspired by a 2.5-metre Narwhal tooth they recently discovered in Paris.
