What's in a name? Okay, firstly, there is no Sarah Scout. Yes, it does sound intimidatingly blue chip but no one will give you the moneyed stink-eye for simply coming in and looking around. The name is actually formed from the respective middle names of the daughters of owners Kate Barber and Vicki McInness.

What kind of artists show here? "We both engage most naturally with practice that has a strong conceptual basis and particularly process-driven work that has a clear relationship to the world we live in." Translated, that means a shit-hot roster of early- to mid-career artists making the kind of work that people who obsess about art like.

Back to the name - Scout as in vanguard, as in on point. Time Out magazine recently decided that the most meaningful way to judge the best art of the last decade was to ask which artists had most influenced other artists. Scout has that vibe about it - artists that your uncle hasn't heard of but all the other art-makers are watching.
