Sounding somewhat similar to Confest, Resfest does not involve thousands of people walking naked on the beach, patchouli, or chickpeas, although it does involve free thought and self expression.
This year's festival is operating in 40 cities and received over 1,800 submissions of which only the finest have been chosen. As well as featuring its local talent Resfest includes a retrospective on Indie's golden child Beck as well as a focus on Swedish collective Traktor, famous for their film clips for Basement Jaxx and Fatboy Slim. The Triple Threat program showcases three emerging artists to keep your beady eye on and the feature documentary Just For Kicks explores the rise of the sneaker phenomenon. There is also the renowned Videos That Rock featuring videos from Bloc Party, Arcade Fire, RJD2, Four Tet and LCD soundsystem as well as short films from the likes of Napoleon Dynamite director Jared Hess and Chris Cunningham.
But, this is just the tip of the digital iceberg so exploring the site is a must. Resfest is mind expansion without the drugs and if you get carried away, just try and keep your clothes on.
