Last Tuesday Society, The Plagiarism Edition

Last Tuesday Society, The Plagiarism Edition

Listen, Do you want to know a secret? Do you promise not to tell? Whoa oh, oh. Oooh craps. (Ever since we got a copyright lawyer in here, writing stuff has been a real date with the downers.) Hang-on. Okay. When you're alone and life is making you lonely, you can always go, Jesus, all bloody right.

Tonight's Last Tuesday Society is 'The Plagiarism Edition', hosted by Richard 'Dick Dastardly' Higgins (pictured waist up) and featuring artists such as Bron Batten, The Suitcase Royale, The List Operators, The Caravan of Love and Thomas Henning (The Black Lung) - ripping stuff right off.

JP Incorporated

Anyone smart enough to have gone out to the Northcote Social Club for the Neil Hamburger show, was treated to a revelatory night of anti-comedy. And the real highlight for me (all respect Neil) was singing-comedy-variety act JP Incorporated. It felt like watching a live action Tim and Eric Awesome Show, in song.

The Hayloft Project

When it comes to art, it's easy to feel isolated down under. Everything edgy and new in art/music etc seems to sharpen its edge elsewhere. Demystifying the creative process can be a dangerous thing. Sometimes it's nice to think artists are rarefied beings, periodically struck by bone-shaking bolts of inspiration, rather than slobs like the rest of us, makin' stuff in their underwear amongst toast crumbs and fallen armies of takeaway coffee cups.

d.v.d at Aphids Reel Music Festival

Comprised of two human drummers and a visual artist, d.v.d piece together live animations triggered by the musicians' drumming. They push music/gaming boundaries by reworking the ‘80s arcade classic, ‘Pong' (You all know, Pong, yeh?) with their own unique tribute. These guys are just one of the groups performing at the Aphids Reel Music Festival - four nights of live performances combining music with the moving image.

Yelling at Stars

Yelling at Stars

When I'm not working out on my Bullworker or transcribing the voices in my am radio's static I like to spend my nights at the Roberts Street park screaming at the stars. Little smug shiny fuckers, shining all bright with their little smiley lightypants and all. Hate em! But you know apparently that don't count for jack because the folks at Yelling at Stars reckon they're sending the first Australian interstellar message to hyper-wonk it's sciencey way into deep space.
