I don't know art but I know what I like, and that's the work of Melbourne-based artist Matt Griffin. You might have seen his work in the first installment of the Life.Death.Thereafter exhibition trilogy. The first one (Life, duh) was at that Silvershot gallery? I missed it. I heard Matt's stuff was pretty cool though. The second show in the series (Death) is at some gallery in France. Probably at the Louvre or something.
Myself, and the eminent Lou Diamond Phillips (who is my friend) will definitely be flying out for that one! Unfortunately LDP doesn't like flying, that La Bamba movie kinda got stuck in his head and now he has to dose up before he can even leave for the airport. Clearing customs with him is like being in a dreadful Spanish version of Weekend at Bernie's, that's how fucked up he has to be.
We went to Rebecca Romijn and Jerry O'Connell's western themed wedding last year, and of course Lou is in costume three days before we leave, plus he's bummed a whole jar of Percocet and it's giving him the shi... wait... sorry, Matt Griffin, he's also in a group show at Joint Hassles right now, go have a look.
