Artist and musician Jon Campbell has a delicate constitution and a nose for the important things in life. First felony: prima facie and to wit, commenting on his new painting Cheap Perfume and Fried Dim Sims Mr Campbell says, "At Flinders Street Station you can buy take-away food from a little kiosk on the platform. People buy fried dim sims and potato cakes etc then proceed to eat them on the train. The smell is nauseating. Add in the smell of cheap perfume and I have to change seats." Delicate constitution? The prosecution rests.

But what about the second charge? Before anyone starts muttering "elitist artist... ars gratia up your artis" (pig Latin learnt, but not learned, from the MGM lion Leo) we will hear from the defence.

Mr Campbell's new exhibition, titled Folk Songs - that would be Volkslieder in German  - "Objection!  Irrelevant, Your Honour." - "Sustained" - is filled with titles alluding to the pleasures of the common Volk. Exhibit A, Titles: Counter Lunch; Big Wave Riding; 72 Derwents (fancy grade coloured pencils? - the defence asks it be stricken from the record); Australia 52, England 4; Tall Poppies; Beer O'Clock; Underdogs; It's a World Full of Lying Bastards; Fish & Chips. Court adjourned.
