MARIPOLARAMA is all about Maripol and her famous entourage. I mean, she should have a whole museum herself, not just a week-long exhibition at Don't Come. This is the woman who created rubber Madonna bangles, the ones your mom wouldn't let you have because Madonna was Like a Virgin but not really a virgin.
She also produced Downtown '81, which is choc full of those super-hip NYC mutant disco and no wave bands. But this exhibition is about her photographic talents - capturing the essence of famous New York City in the ‘80s on Polaroid film.
Don't fret though, the polaroids are going to be blown up so you don't have bring your magnifying glass to see all the details. There will even be other rare film footage on display and Maripol herself is going to be here in Melbourne to show you how real fashion icons sign books!
