Apart from his amazing art and design Todd James is best known, to my mind, for the brilliant work he did on the TV series Crankyankers. It's a show about puppets making prank phone calls and Todd developed the puppets.

Unfortunately I've never seen Crankyankers because I absolutely detest puppets. Puppets fill me with a deep sense of dread that compels me to destroy them on sight. More than once they've driven me to the fight or flight response, and of course - I fight.

I once dismembered and then cremated a ventriloquist's doll that kept sneaking looks at me. I was back stage helping out on a talent show and someone had brought the clicking-eyed, swivel-headed, guillotine-mouthed fucker along to give me the creeps.

After nearly two hours of my skin crawling, and breaking my own neck trying to catch him staring, I marched over, grabbed his neck and we went for a little drive. I hurled him into the back seat and took off only to pull up seconds later to transfer him to the boot. Then when I got home I methodically, single-mindedly reduced him to a Milo tin full of ash at the bottom of the Murray River.
