Post-punk existentialist shoegazers, Love of Diagrams, are launching the vinyl version of their latest geometrically pleasing album, Nowhere Forever, recorded last year in Seattle with Ryan Hadlock of Blonde Redhead acclaim. World music has gotten a bad rap. It's too often associated with and passed off as music that late thirty-going-on-forty somethings are listening to, trying to seem relevant or hip. It's as if the entire hipster collective has bought into the eternal struggle of Rob Gordon versus Ian Raymond and of course, we all want to be fucking John Cusack.

We stopped by Southpaw last Sunday expecting to see hordes of aging PBS DJs with gross dirty hands digging through the crates of vinyl that had been relocated to Fitzroy for the Southpaw record fair. The crunch hits us at last. We've all been sitting pretty safe in the knowledge that we'll never have a mortgage, letting Tom Piotrowski's slightly lispy words of doom wash over us each night as we relax in front of the CommSec finance report.
