Instead of simply marking down the stock in his own awesome Narrows Bookshelf, he invited some of Melbourne's most intriguing and collectible artists to bring in unwanted books, catalogues, CDs and LPs from their own private collections for a one day sale.

Designer/musician Rogerio Duarte is Brazilian and not only that - he's the brains behind avant-garde pop music movement, Tropicalia. The recent show about him at The Narrows is ending on Nov 14 and there's gonna be a closing party around the corner at the Recorded Music Salon on Friday.

Tropicalia is not just the lead single from Beck's best album, but an infinitely more interesting underground avant-garde pop movement which defined the anti-authoritarian spirit of Brazil in the late ‘60s. Rogerio Duarte was the main man behind it all and produced some damn fine album covers that have more than stood the test of time.
