Our kind friend Dougie once spent a good 15 minutes trying to teach me the difference between Ruggers and Stubbies. Unfortunately I was too distracted by his manly thighs to listen, so for now let's call them 'man shorts'.
The men I know who favour this variety of trouser seem to find it an immensely satisfying experience, but there are a few key rules for any young'uns considering the man short this summer:
1.
Give a kid an extra sixty minutes of daylight and they're going to start thinking it's ok to hitch the hemline above the knee, that the sea was made for swimming in, that meals taste better in nature, and the only books worth reading are read on a plaid picnic rug in Fitzroy Gardens.
But where does one put the emergency pants in case of a northwesterly change? What about togs and a beach towel? What about you, plaid picnic rug? You look heavy.

What happens when the oldest surf shop in the city clears out their warehouse and discovers boxes of stock from the mid ‘80s? Answer: Melbourne's new rave kids are afforded the unique opportunity to buy new clothes that are older and far more authentic than their music tastes.
Melbourne surf shop - located just past the posse of kids practicing their break dancing in Tivoli arcade - is a stalwart of the Melbourne fashion landscape.
