Trent Whitehead's work has brought feathered, horned and hairy creatures to the canvas; that canvas being wood panelling, t-shirts for Urban Outfitters or MTV office walls. His fantastical sensibility and candy colours - bright enough they kind of swirl up if you stare at them for too long - creep into his next exhibit, Cornicopia.

Description:
Moth will gather their fashionable forces and bump into a South Yarra warehouse. Labels, Chip Chop, Vicious Threads and Lenko Boutique, have cleaned out their wardrobes and handing down their stock to make room for new, Summery creations. While shopping and drinking sounds like a hazardous mix, resulting in too-tight pants, maxed-out credit cards and cutting insults towards the bitch trying on the t-shirt you wanted, there'll be adequate supervision to remind shoppers of their manners and common sense.
Event: Sales
Stimulus: Free booze & Food
Vintage fashion boutiques seem to be materialising around Melbourne faster than the Starbucks plague of 2004, so Chapel’s new addition Billy has added new spin on the usual recycled clutter.
The one-time warehouse-space now feels like a (incredibly well dressed) friend’s living room, complete with a coffee lounge, upholstered couches and a wide screen television.
Debate spurred over Lee Jeans' cheeky lollypop-licky-licky advertising campaign late last year. Some applauded the work by infamous Vice photographer Terry Richardson and some were revolted. The beauty of the campaign was that we engaged and criticised rather than mindlessly sucking up the message.
ThreeThousand has never attended a contemporary dance performance before. Not even accidentally while walking down the Bourke Street Mall when that belly-dancing lady is turning everyone on. So this was a big deal for us and we think we got it.
Grotesque Beauty is a part theatre, part dance work created by Emma Anglesey, who was recently accepted into St Martins’ new ‘Next Gen’ program.
Fat 272 isn’t exactly new to the Melbourne retail game, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t as fresh as the day they sprung up on Chapel Street.
From its birth eight years ago, Fat has been helping Australian design fledglings spread their wings from their pioneer store on Johnston Street, Fitzroy (which has now popped around the corner to Brunswick St) and the Chapel St institution (which is still standing).
Although contemporary Melbourne is probably the antithesis of the prohibition era, the idea of a speakeasy is nevertheless inviting.
Ellis Street Cocktail Loungeis strictly reservation only and unless you know the exact address you will have a hard time finding it. There is no signage and the façade looks more likely to house auto-repairs than cigars, cocktails, fine wines and whiskey.
