Just when you though Crossley Street couldn't get any better: up pops a pop-up. You have to be wary of pop-ups these days though. Most of them use the fear of a ‘closing date' to jolt you into buying something average. But this couldn't be further from the case at Baker D. Chirico's Pop-up, which looks amazing - and tastes as good as it looks.
I'll be straight with you - I've never actually been to this place. My idea of gourmet shopping is a strong latte, or at best a skerrick of parmesan from the Vic Market. This is not because of any sort of reverse snobbishness, but purely because it costs money and that's what I use for train tickets.
Sometime in the 1950s, someone thought to themselves “Man”, they thought, “this fizzy powder in the middle of my Hoppy Pop is so good. It’s great. It’s the whole reason I suck on Hoppy Pops. Why can’t I just have a whole bag of this fizzy stuff? And, at that moment, Wizz Fizz was born.
