Description:
To Polly, you were always good to me: quick, unquestioning and easy. Although you were expensive, I never felt cheated. And then in the beginning of '08, you were discontinued and I stopped to wonder why. It is now time to say goodbye, and I will come see you in your last days. I may even purchase you as a relic of our past.
Event: Exhibition
Stimulus: Angst
Let's face it. Even a monkey could snap something pretty with Polaroid. Its nostalgic feel, its play of light, its instant development; Polaroid is one of the last standing, accessible, relics of photography past. Sadly, all good things must come to an end. 2008 is Polaroid's last year. This may not be surprising in our era of ever-advancing digital photography, but it still sure is sad.
Unless it’s sunburn, or Michael Schumacher, most would agree that things look better in red. Bright, bold, sexy and potentially dangerous the Polaroid One Rossa is the lipstick on the collar of the camera world.
There is something to be said for tangibility, for immediacy, and for the inability to delete.
