Water and electrical amenities have been bulldozed and replaced by a liquor store, a peep show and a gun shop. Gone are the days of politely bidding for Mayfair and Parklane, of plum-mouthed laughter thinly disguising bitter resentment, of holding on to your fallen empire of hotels and houses due to colonialist pride.
