While, as an audience, we may deify or struggle to relate to what is going on at a gig, we understand that at some point before the music started there was a human being with a texta or biro, or groupie's lipstick, sitting somewhere wondering: What the sh*t am I going to play tonight?

Lists (and setlists) are a very active form of thinking and a no-nonsense approach to documentation that, for the most part, continue to defy the march of technology in favour of the handwritten.
