Description:
Once described by Texta Queen as 'a powerful beard', MP Fikaris is otherwise pretty mysterious. Here's what he says about his new exhibition of illustrations and comic art at Nine on Seven: "Ever worked in a kitchen? Ever thought you were an artist? Ever enjoyed telling a story? Ever tried to illustrate the story? Ever been caught doing something drunk and stupid? Ever stood on top of a building with a drink with friends?" Well yes yes yes MP Fikaris.

With the death of the Polaroid ominous and little Kmart 1-hour photos labs closing down all over the nation, it's hard to get a ‘to have and to hold' happy snap these days. Sure we have digital! But when was the last time you got those 300 MySpace profile perfect picture shots printed on real photographic paper instead of your canon bubble-jet? And you can forget the element of surprise.

Brunswick Bound's gallery is reopening this weekend with a group show including Marc Martin, Sarah McNeil, Dylan Martorell, Maara Serwylo, Jo Waite, M P Fikaris, Tom Civil, Kieran Mangan, Sam Wallman, Eveline Tarunadjaja, Andrea Innocent, Keg de Souza and many more.

Opening Fri Nov 13, 6-9pm
Exhibition runs until Nov 25
How much:

Description:
Not only a great guy, a redhead, a hit with the ladies and the bass player in the Brides of Christ, Tim Molloy is an epicly talented illustrator. This is his first ever solo show. And even though it's going to be jaw-droppingly weird and amazing - with 3-D statues, drawings and a 48-page comic book with a kind of ancient Egyptian take on the technology that has replaced our personal gods - we're glad he's finally done with all this stuff so he can dry clean his slightly-too-small suit and get back on the scene.

As someone who lives, breathes, and sometimes poops illustration, I can tell you with some authority that the Holy Grail for many illustrators is to simply be able to create their own visual worlds, and live blissfully in them forever, only without those pesky Nazis and waaay less Harrison Ford.
Nathan Jurevicius is one of the lucky souls who has made it out the other side, and has lived to tell the tale.
What:
Jeremy Wortsman, LIVE at "The Vault"
Where:
Loop (back room), 23 Meyers Place, Melbourne
When:
Mon Oct 26, doors 6pm, talk starts 6.30pm sharp
How much:
Free!
Description:
Jeremy Wortsman has a lot to offer. Sometimes we just go round to his place, fiddle with his model motorcycle kit and watch while he plays X-Box. Then he gets mad. That model glue is a hassle to get, it's not as though it's just there for sniffing! He doesn't like us using his expensive handwash or fingering his Kramer's Ergot.
