It seems like a new restaurant opens up on Carlisle Street each week, although only some of them look like they're going to stay. Ugly Sister certainly feels permanent - they've spent money of the fit out, have some great art on the walls, and a head chef (Andy) who spends enough time in there to gurantee that they're serious about things.
Loobylu Illustrations
Buying Artliness is next to Godliness. There is only so much gallery hopping and free champagne drinking you can do before the law of averages/your conscience catches up with you. Loobylu is potentially the cutest site ever created and is the delightful alter ego of Melbourne illustrator Claire Robertson.
Wall Two 80
Wall Two 80 is an institution for Melbourne's café mafia and on any given morning you'll find it pleasantly busy with relaxed, sophisticated types - the sort that make you wonder what they actually do for a living. The outside benches are definitely pole position, but if the weather isn't favourable you can always find a good nook, because nobody creates good nooks like Six Degrees architects who designed Wall Two 80.
