On the first rotation Razorlight's debut 'Up all night' seems to have all the right attributes of another classic NME funded attempt to resuscitate the waning resurgence of the British indie pop-rock scene. Maybe we should just let it die. Musical euthanasia?

Razorlight do have a couple of credible tracks though "Golden Touch" & "Up All Night" and lush production values along with solid instrumentation do well to hide some of the songwriting shortcomings. Yet harsh comparisons are just so easy to run with. Think The Libertines minus the heroin or Pulp minus Jarvis, and all underpinned by a desire to be 'ironic' or 'postmodern'.

These guys have hit the top of the UK charts and will no doubt earn a following here for what is rumoured to be a great live show. At least it might take the focus off Britney's baby for a fleeting moment.
